At the beginning of the week, Asus unveiled, outside the
Mobile World Congress, a new economic smartphone whose interest lies mainly in
its photo and video tools. The mobile also offers applications dedicated to
live streaming. Perfect for video bloggers.
Asus has not presented a new smartphone in Barcelona. The
Taiwanese brand also had no stand on the Mobile World Congress. Is there a
causal relationship between the two? Perhaps. However, this does not imply that
Asus has nothing to present at the beginning of the year. First, Asus could
have shown to a European public the two smartphones that the brand to unveil in
Las Vegas: the ZenFone 3 Zoom and the ZenFone AR. Or even the brand new ZenFone
3 Max Plus. Then, it seems that Asus had some trumps in his sleeve. But the
brand did not want to play in Spain, let alone wait for Computex at the end of
May.
A mobile for social networking experts?
One of these assets is called ZenFone Live. It is an elegant
smartphone in which hides an entry-level platform that we will detail in a few
lines. However, this is not what characterizes him most. The ZenFone Live is a
smartphone for everyday social networking users like Instagram Live, YouTube, Facebook
Live or Periscope. You will notice that the common point between all these
services is the ability to realize streaming (live or not), like the Youtubers.
ZenFone Live is therefore a mobile that facilitates all the steps to create its
own content.
ZenFone Live offers applications to improve the rendering of
a video, in particular to magnify the complexion of the person who is filming.
The smartphone offers many settings for shooting with selective filters to act
on certain parts of the face. The smartphone also incorporates connectors to
use the main live streaming tools. A very amazing position that reminds us of
the Chacha and Salsa, mobiles created by HTC for Facebook users. Technically,
two elements were conceived for the creation of content. First, the 5 megapixel
webcam (each pixel measures 1.4 micron) with dedicated LED flash and manual
mode to optimize the snapshots and videos. Then the mobile is equipped with two
microphones to improve the audio.
Finally, the ZenFone Live is equipped with a low-cost
platform. The screen measures 5 inches and displays images in 720p. The chipset
is a Snapdragon 410. The latter is accompanied by 2 GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB
of storage, expandable in each case by a microSDXC card. The battery has a
capacity of 2650 mAh. Its connections: WiFi n, GPS, LTE category 4, FM radio,
Bluetooth 4.0. The main photo sensor offers a definition of 13 megapixels. It
comes with a f / 2.0 lens, standard autofocus and LED flash. The whole works
under Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the overlay ZenUI 3.5. The chassis is made
of aluminum. ZenFone Live is 8 mm thick. It weighs 120 grams. It will be
available in pink, gold or black.
