SophosLabs security researchers have found a set of malicious apps on the Google play store that secretly steal user data in more than 50 apps.
Many of these applications have high download rates, some of which exceed one million downloads per application, while SophosLabs estimates the total number of users who installed these applications on their devices is about 55 million users.
These applications collect personal user data, such as Google Account, applications installed on their phone, IMEI ID, Android ID, screen resolution, operating system, phone model, manufacturer, mobile network operator and app download source.
